The courts serving Buriram follow Thailand's standard provincial pattern, with appeals flowing to the regional appeal court.

The local structure

• The Buriram Provincial Court hears the province's civil and criminal cases at first instance.
• The Buriram Juvenile & Family Court handles divorce, custody, legitimation and juvenile matters.
• Minor and small-value matters may fall to a kwaeng (municipal) court or simplified procedures where available — the Courts of Justice website (coj.go.th) lists the courthouse serving each district.
• Appeals from these courts go to the Court of Appeal Region 3 (seated in Nakhon Ratchasima), and onwards — with permission — to the Supreme Court in Bangkok.

What to expect in a civil case

1. Complaint filed (court fee is a small percentage of a money claim, capped).
2. Service on the defendant, who files an answer within a short window.
3. Court-led mediation — most provincial cases get a genuine settlement push, and many end here in a recorded, enforceable compromise.
4. Witness hearings before judges (no jury), often spaced across weeks.
5. Judgment in Thai; enforcement through the Legal Execution Department's provincial office if the loser doesn't pay.

Practical notes

• Everything is in Thai; foreign parties need interpreters (provided in criminal cases) and translated documents.
• Appeal windows are short — commonly one month. Diarise them the day judgment is read.
• A contested case typically takes a year or more at first instance.
